Is my life half full or half empty?

A friend and I were talking about our lives. We were discussing what a mid-life crisis should feel like. We are both the same age, which is thirty-nine. We both have cronic illnesses. We were thinking even with the advances in medicine, would we live past the age of eighty. If we do live to be more than eighty than we could conclude that we are half way through our existence here on Earth. We may need to start contemplating getting to know the words to the great Baptist hym, "I'll Fly Away". I just never realized how close I could be to my departure time. Pink discusses many exercises or activities that can increase our awareness of meaning. One was "Picture Yourself at Ninety." Covey had a similar exercise in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Covey encourages individuals to begin with the end in mind. He says to picture youself at your funeral. What would you want said by the most important people in your life? Mr. Williams, the speaker at the last region 12 TEPSA meeting, said he was surprised when his own children said he was a good man and a good principal that loved all his kids at school. He wanted to be known as a great father and husband. There are many things I would like to be remembered for when I'm gone. So for the second half I'm changing the game plan. I am going to live this life with the end in mind. I encourage everyone over forty to do the same! Smile because somebody loves you. Who that somebody is, I don't know, but it could be your kid, your mom, husband, wife, mailman. Mailman! Where did that one come from? I'll quit while I'm ahead.

  1. Somewhere I read, "If there's no such thing as male menopause, what the heck was that?"
